Accessibility at The Ethereal Palette Museum
The Ethereal Palette Museum is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive experience for all visitors. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of art, regardless of their abilities. This page outlines the accessibility features and services available at our museum to ensure a comfortable and enriching visit for all.
Our commitment to accessibility is guided by the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and we strive to meet Level AA standards. We continually work to improve the accessibility of our physical space and digital resources.
For specific inquiries or to request accommodations, please contact our Accessibility Coordinator, Dr. Annelise Dubois, at +41 20 153 20 61 or via email at accessibility@etherealpalette.ch. We encourage visitors to contact us in advance of their visit so we can best assist with their needs.
Physical Accessibility
Wheelchair Access
The Ethereal Palette Museum is wheelchair accessible. The main entrance features a ramp for easy access. All galleries and public spaces within the museum are accessible via elevators or ramps. Wheelchairs are available for loan free of charge at the visitor information desk on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend reserving a wheelchair in advance by contacting Dr. Dubois.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are located on each floor of the museum, equipped with grab bars and ample space for maneuverability. Signage is clear and easy to read.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome at The Ethereal Palette Museum. Please ensure your service animal is properly leashed or harnessed and under your control at all times.
Seating
Benches and seating areas are available throughout the galleries to allow visitors to rest and enjoy the artwork. Additional seating can be provided upon request; please ask a museum staff member for assistance.
Large Print Guides
Large print versions of our museum guides and exhibition brochures are available at the visitor information desk. These guides provide detailed information about the artworks and exhibitions in a format that is easier to read for visitors with low vision.
Tactile Exhibits
While the original artwork cannot be touched, we offer tactile exhibits in our Education Center that allow visitors to experience the textures and forms of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. These exhibits are designed to be accessible to visitors with visual impairments.
Sensory Accessibility
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices are available for guided tours and lectures. These devices amplify the sound and reduce background noise, making it easier for visitors with hearing impairments to follow along. Please request an assistive listening device at the visitor information desk when you arrive.
Reduced Sensory Days
We offer "Reduced Sensory Days" on select dates throughout the year. During these times, the museum reduces ambient noise and lighting to create a more comfortable environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities. Check our website or contact us for upcoming dates.
Visual Descriptions
Audio descriptions of selected artworks are available via our mobile app. These descriptions provide detailed visual information about the artwork, including its composition, colors, and historical context. Visitors can access the audio descriptions on their own smartphones or tablets.
Quiet Room
A quiet room is available for visitors who need a break from the stimulation of the museum environment. This room provides a calm and peaceful space for relaxation and reflection. Please ask a museum staff member for directions to the quiet room.
